Paleolithic Culture and Human Migration

Objectives:

To understand early trans-continental dispersals of ancient human groups and their occupation of diverse environments.

Scientific Issues:

1) The dispersals and behavioral traits of archaic humans across Eurasia in the late Middle and Upper Pleistocene;

2) Modern human dispersals and their interactions with archaic humans;

3) Prehistoric hunter-gatherers’ adaptation to extreme environments, such as arid, alpine, and tropical environments.

Pictures:

Archaeological excavation at Baishiya Karst Cave revealed occupation history of Denisovans, archaic humans in Eurasia, and their adaptation to the alpine environments of the Tibetan Plateau.
